I think some of Bank's books are really amazing and others ok. The scifi stuff (with the M) is just brilliant as long as you are prepared to completely free your mind and get lost in it. That said I can see why it doesn't appeal to some people. I am in awe of his imagination.

I think the Crow Road will grow on you Jov, it did me, but it is each to their own afterall. And I think I am one of the few people to have read quite alot of Banks but never the Wasp Factory!

Mark - you may well like the priestess books, I just didn't think they were of the same calibre, though they were ok. There is one character I really like, one of the Wilds as they are called.

Red seas continues to please. It's at a better pace than the first.

I really need to get into 'Matter' at some point, the sheer size of the book is putting me off right now!

I've just finished reading Mark Henry's 'Happy Hour of the Damned'. Ignore the really awful cover, the story itself isn't as derivative as the cover suggests and is a real fun read (a mixture of evil plots and the undead social scene in Seattle). It's irreverent and doesn't take itself seriously at all, worth a look if you like urban fantasy but are tired of the cliches. My full review is over Here.

Finished the Black Magician trilogy, what a great series. i recommend it to anyone who has yet to read it.

'The Innocent Mage' is pretty good

I've just finished reading 'Killswitch', the last instalment in Joel Shepherd's 'Cassandra Kresnov' trilogy. It's a definite improvement on the second book and is just the kind of sci-fi that I'm after. There's a couple of loose ends, that don't get tied up, but on the whole this is a great end to a great series. My full review is over Here. I'm up for reading some fantasy next and it's a toss up between 'Blood Heir', 'Tales Before Narnia' and 'The Name of the Wind'. Not sure what to read next...

'Wrath of a Mad God' by Raymond Feist. I'm about two thirds of the way through and thoroughly enjoying it - ALL the old characters are coming out to play. It's been too long since Tomas had a chance to kick some ass and Nakor is just cool.

Loads going on, plenty of plot threads all cleverly linked together... a fine read. Up to now.
