If anyone is like me when they read you will identify with a certain character more than others, for example the first time I read the Raven books I was drawn to Hirad, but as im reading them again I find myself drawn more to the Unknown!
Maybe this is because im getting older and with more responsibility im being more practical (and probably boring).I was just wondering if anyone felt the same. Very Happy

Well, my forum name probably gives it away but for me it's Selik. I explained this one in detail on the old forum, but if anyone's reeeeeeally desperate to know why I like him, I can always go into it again Wink

It's got to be Denser - OK, I'm nothing like as smart as him by a long way but he's witty and clever and does eventually get the girl - even if she is completely bonkers! Laughing

Initially i was drawn to the unknown, which made the ending a bit happier, but by then i loved all the characters!

I also liked Denser... the transition his character makes was a good one to follow. Thraun was cool but, the more I think about it, I'd say Ilkar was probably dog's proverbials. I liked his humour and how he and Hirad used to play off one another - it came across as a genuine, long standing, companionship.

And, of anyone, though he couldn't change where his path ultimately led (I'm really trying to to include spoilers here Razz ), he made of it everything he could do.

And, after many long and deep conversations with Lou, I also have a soft spot for Selik.... still, of anyone, if I had to be sat next to someone at a dinner, it's Ilkar I'd prefer.

in the tradition of Dragonkisser:

HIRAD!!!!!!!!!!

I love that everything comes from the heart. He gets it wrong but his intentions are good and he doesn't think it through properly. I can relate to all that Embarassed

I do have respect for Erienne too, irritated me alot of times but she suffered terribly, yet still managed to do the job when the chips were down. She may be bonkers but I don't know I'd have survived her losses

Thraun was the coolest and The Unknown's administrative guidance is class.

Of non Raven, Blackthorne and Gresse rock. Cool

Oh and Styliann's revenge at Parve and his last conversation with Sha Kaan make him worthy of being on the list of favourite characters. Which is not the topic of the thread I know, but it is in the right vein
(superior vena cava)

And Selik and Hirad do share a common theme of wholeheartedly fighting for what they believe. Selik was just wrong, and he would torture people which I don't think Hirad would. It would go against the Raven code.

(on a mod note I'm going to add a spoiler warning to the thread as it could head that way)

I always said Selik's would triumph overall. I'm not appalled at all, in fact I predicted as much when it was started. There's just not enough enthusiasm from them. Rolling Eyes

For me it's Ilkar from The Raven (I'm re-reading the books at the moment, and I like the way he tries hard not to laugh at Hirad when he doesn't have a clue what's going on!!!).

Outside of The Raven, Styllian (similar reasons to Lizzy) and Yron (from Elfsorrow).

First it was Denser becase he's smart, witty and good at what he does. And his name begins with D, like mine (how superficial is that?) but as I read more of the books I find myself draw to Thraun and really identifyinhg with him.

Thraun is strong and wild with a deep emotional element but he's also lost, a bit of an outsider. He has pain and mystique, and for all his battle rage, he is deeply innocent. I find that his innocence really stands out. I wonder if he was every really happy.
