I know people have discussed who they'd like to see play particular characters, but what about the score? Who do people think would be good to write the soundtrack for Ascendants the movie?
I'd have to say Hans Zimmer is a pretty obvious choice, but also Steve Jablonsky, who wrote the score for the Transformers movie (the newest one). I have the soundtrack on my PC and it's pretty damn impressive.
Also there's Jerry Goldsmith who did the score for The 13th Warrior.

I must admit to being very, very impressed with Jablonsky's Transformers score. Zimmer is the daddy, of course, but I'd have to hand this one to Jablonsky.
Unless we were allowed to take a risk, in which case Mr Tuomas from Nightwish would be rather high on my list. _________________ Pagan Music |

Actually, you have a good point. Whilst Tuomas (Holopainen) has never written music for a movie before, just listening to the orchestral pieces of Nightwish's music should be enough to convince people.
He's an incredible musician capable of composing 15 minute long orchestral pieces and best of all he's a huge fan of fantasy.
He'd probably be a very interesting but worthy choice of composer for the score. (He's also a fan of Mr. Zimmer and Mr. Elfman )
Although while listening to Jablonsky's piece 'Frenzy' from the Transformers movie, I could easily imagine Gorian's raising of the dead to it. So many choices _________________ "I sit on my arse, not my head." - Baron Gresse. |

Not heard those, but I could see old classical music working really well, especially in the first book when the Ascendants are growing up cocooned in their safe hidden world. Lots of lutes and stuff, then flipping to hard rock in the big legion battle secnes.....
Actually some Ed Alleyne Johnson wouldn't go amiss, interspersed with Meatloaf.
What? It's Friday night, I've had a really busy week, a continuous thumping headache and I'm working all weekend, ergo I'm allowed to be random _________________

Meatloaf?! Much as he's cool I don't know about that one
Liking the lute idea. Actually you mentioning hard rock makes me think of the music used in a particular part of 300, which is sort of orchestralesque metal. Now that'd work for the legions
Ed Alleyne Johnson is also a really cool idea.
So are we adding Tyler Bates to the list then? _________________ "I sit on my arse, not my head." - Baron Gresse. |

Zimmer may be the daddy, but John Williams is clearly the godfather!!!
I like Elfman but I'm not convinced that he'd be right for this. I'd take Williams or Howard Shore. _________________ If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine. |

John Williams by far. _________________ "Right so we're going to steal a bomb that can be remote detonated, take it back to our base and then huddle around it? That sounds like a great plan." |

Really? I mean I know Williams is awesome, but for some reason i'm not liking him for this one. _________________ "I sit on my arse, not my head." - Baron Gresse. |

Hmmm... I'm still with Jablonsky for this one. He can produce pieces to suit anything from action, to grief, to joy and pretty much everything an Ascendants movie would need.
So there. Mwahahahaha! _________________ Pagan Music |

My what a convincing argument you give
Still, if people are liking the 'unknown actor' idea, why not a relatively unknown (but extremely well skilled) composer? _________________ "I sit on my arse, not my head." - Baron Gresse. |
