There is no doubt that, as a author producing new material, his time has passed. Fantasy writing has grown up, but it must also be stated that he is one of the reasons that fantasy is as popular as it is today.

Oddly, I'd say that Abercrombie has much in common with Eddings. I don't know if he'd like me to say that, but the make up of his current series, to me at least, felt like the make up to an Eddings novel. However, it's Abercrombie's style is totally different and well good that sets him apart from the mass of other fantasy authors.
Maybe Eddings such focus on writing YA instead of trying to produce some adult epic. _________________ "You know what Jack Burton always says... what the hell?" |
