Ok so i have had Gemmells last book sat on the shelf for a few weeks now, why is it sat there?

Well once i read it...thats it...no more new gemmell ever again!!

the problem...i really want to read it....

I think i will hold off until my holiday in 6 weeks time...then i can spend time savouring the book.

does anyone else have this problem?? or do you ever think...if i read this then thats it...and so hold off?

Or have i just lost the plot???

upon reaching the last book of the raven i faced a similar quandry , but my thought was what the hell I still NEED to read this book as it will no doubt be something I cannot and refuse to miss out on !.

There are a number of books I've bought over the last year, and I've not read them yet. However, there are certain books that I can't leave, even though they're the last in a series. I say read it now, then start at the beginning of his books and read them all again!!! Although, holiday reading is more enjoyable as you can savour a book a little longer, bujt can you REALLY wait that long...?!

I know its a very radical idea.

I do get where you are coming from Parm, but David Gemmell would want you to enjoy the book. It's the best way you can honour his memory afterall.

i have decided to pack it away for October...i can wait that long and then i can savour the book with beer and sun in spain.

between now and then i have others to read and a fan con to prepare for.

My theory is that if people don't read it then the effort that went into finishing it is all for nothing.

what's the point of reading nearly all of a series if your not going to read the conclusion? Makes no sense to me It would be like watching a really good film 3/4's of the way through the film then turning ot off because you know it's going to finish and you don't want to see what happens.

Parmenion, I too am a great Gemmell fan and while I'm looking forward to reading it, I am also dreading those final chapters and knowing that I'll never get to enjoy another new Gemmell book.

He was a great writer and I've got everyone of this releases and it's crazy to think that this will be his final book that I add to my collection.

I read David Gemmells last book as soon as i got it and i will probs be reading it again fairly soon. Along with James Barclay there is no other author i can read and re read again and again and still get the same enjoyment as i did the first time .
