Tough to have read anything of mine 8 years ago since Dawnthief didn't come out until July 1999. Now I'm not the best at maths but still... _________________ 'A human with a hand outstretched in friendship carries the fangs of a taipan in his palm.' A TaiGethen saying. |

I have a quick question regarding a specific passage in Elfsorrow.
At the beginning of Chapter 13, when Auum is tracking a group of men heading toward the temple, we can read:
"...for Auum, it is his first call....."
At first, I thought this meant it was the first time Auum had to actually fight to protect his people/temple... But later in Ravensoul we learn that Auum has fought the Garonin a long while ago, and at the beginning of OWWG we see Auum fighting (in a very similar setting as in Elfsorrow).
So my question is: is there a specific meaning for "his first call" that I am missing ? or is it just a tiny inconsistency ?
Thanks ! |

Welcome to the forums... stay awhile.
In answer to your question, well I could concoct a whole lot of hocum about how it's his first call of the day of something but the fact it, it's a tiny inconsistency. That's what playing fast and loose with chronology does for you. _________________ 'A human with a hand outstretched in friendship carries the fangs of a taipan in his palm.' A TaiGethen saying. |

I couldn't bear to buy Elfsorrow, it was the first book i found when i keyed in 'elves' for want of a new elf novel. It seemed like they had just gone on the adventures and then one by one they got sickened. I don't think it's because of the statue that did it... it's a plague and when a tribe or village has been isolated for many years, they aren't immune to sickness that comes from outside.
What do u think? I'm new here, most replies seem to have been years ago. Well, hope someone would reply haha. |

Hi ilkarelvenmage... well, it is the statue that does it. Breaking it breaks the harmonic forces that govern the elves and let the plague loose.
And if you want an elves book, why not buy Once Walked With Gods - that's the first in my trilogy all about elves. Jolly good it is too...
Good to have you on board, by the way. _________________ 'A human with a hand outstretched in friendship carries the fangs of a taipan in his palm.' A TaiGethen saying. |

Hi James!
Yea I know it was the statue. What i meant is, i would prefer to think of it as a plague because of all the symptoms. Did you base it on a real illness, tuberculosis?
I still like Dawnthief and Noonshade best. I did read Once walked with gods and found it confusing. I'm writing ilkar fanfiction =)) |

It is a plague so fair enough. It's a mishmash of horrible bits out of several illnesses. Sorry you found OWWG confusing - can you tell me why and I'll try and straighten it out for you. _________________ 'A human with a hand outstretched in friendship carries the fangs of a taipan in his palm.' It has been some time ago. I normally borrow the books.... I don't really remember the specific scenes.I think generally the feel of it was confusing, because one moment abt Takar (sorry if i spell wrongly) and Auum from past to present....
I recently found Ravensoul, thank you for having the dead pple back btw
the teleportation between Rips confused me. It's alright if i say this? I don't mean to hurt yr feelings alright? (i notice your star sign when i checked) |
