Can't see this discussed before.
Doesn't have to be in order but let's be hard on ourselves and leave it to 3.
Doesn't have to be Fantasy either (unless you insist it does!)
For me:
1) To kill a mockingbird - Harper Lee (Ender's game Orson Scott Card if Fantasy only list - although it would be 3rd)
2) Legend - David Gemmell
3) Magician - Raymond Feist |

Impossible to say as there are so many and it changes!
It's actually easier to choose series's so here is my top 3 series's at the moment:
Chronicles and Legend of the Raven
The Night Watch Trilogy + 1
The Black Magician Trilogy
Hounourable mentions go to:
His Dark Materials Trilogy
The Eragon series (when he finally finishes it)
Any books written by Mathew Reilly, especially The Contest which was so unique 
So many others though...

Can't pick 3 favs so will go for 3 favs of 2010 (in no particular order)
Once Walked With Gods (a given really  )
Surface Detail by Iain M Banks (my fav Culture book to date and up there in my overall top 10 books)
Swords of Albion by Mark Chadbourn
Honourable mention to Matter of Blood by Sarah Pinborough

Black Magician trilogy and His Dark Materials are two of my fav series, along with Garth Nix's Abhorsen trilogy
All well worth a read if you've not tried them.
Real shame Trudi Canavan hasn't written anything as good since imo

I haven't read The Ambassador's Mission yet, is it no good? It's a follow on from the trilogy isn't it?

I have it on the good authority of Mr Jovialgnome, that it's ok but not as good as the trilogy. But not read it myself yet. I will do though.

I have read and enjoyed the Pullman series and plan to introduce my daughter to is soon (she liked the film!)

'twas actually The Magician's Apprentice and I'm afraid I found it to be both slow and predictable which is a shame given how good the trilogy was!

I really enjoyed the Black Magician trilogy, and read the Age of Five trilogy after - really disappointed ultimately. Started promisingly, but went downhill after that for me, and the final book was convoluted and not hugely satisfying by the end. Real shame.

I just read the Bourne Identity and you're right. Great book. It's much better than the film.
