I don't normally mention this but if you love the book enough, going out and talking about it on every forum you visit would be massively appreciated. In fact, it will make me love you forever. Even you, Max. |

Well got this for my 40th birthday the other week and 4 days later family started searching for as I'd hidden myself away to read it
Excellent book, exactly what I expect from one of James' book, no idea who is going to survive the book which is exactly how it should be.
Some shocking revelations about Elves culture and civilisation but as usual humans behaving as expected
I also received an Amazon Kindle (a week late but never mind) and might start buying James' books on it just to re-read them again. Don't tell the wife though. _________________ Member and President of the Will Begman Appreciation Society.

I'm about to re read it, loved it, thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. Also can't wait for the next one.
Need to start spreading the word, starting with an Amazon review _________________

I'm on Chapter 8, really enjoying it already, annoyed when I have to work and can't read it
It's nice to see Auum again, still think he's ace
Malop, I'm wanting to get a Kindle for my birthday next month, how are you finding it? I will of course have all of James's books on it Was thinking of getting the 3Gs one so I can buy on the move, and it's only £45 more. _________________ Who's the bigger fool, the fool or the fool who follows him... |

Loving the Kindle and working hard to ignore all the anti-Amazon stuff about how they're ruining the world.

Just finished Once walked with Gods, and I have to say, it was awsome
Really enjoyed it all the way through and by the end I found myself taking every spare minute I had just to finish it! I guess that's also a curse seen as I have to wait for the next one now and it sounds like it's going to be even better.
Want to talk about soo much stuff that was in the book but don't want to give away spoilers so I'll just say that after reading the Raven books, the history is really interesting, and the elves are even better, especially the Tai Gethen _________________ Who's the bigger fool, the fool or the fool who follows him... |

Finished it last night and really enjoyed it! If I'm being honest, it took me a while to get into it but that could just be me being thick and from about a third of the way through I'd got the hang of all the names and the relationships and from then on it fairly romped along!
In common with everyone else, I now find myself longing for the next one - nice one James! _________________ "Constant Vigilance!" |

I thought it was excellent.
I was always fascinated about the elves especially the backstory given the end of the Raven stuff so it was a bit mean of you to talk about the initial fight with the Garonin in that but STILL leave then out and start 3000 years back and yet only skirt the issue!
The hints about their culture etc was excellent and it was amusing to see some of the names [and personalities] in the Raven stuff cropping up at that stage. |

Sadly, I am still waiting for my order to come from Amazon Japan.
After reading the forum here I am sure it wil be worth the wait though.
Have a good one all. |

I've been avoiding the forum to avoid any spoilers until I could read the book but I finished it last night and it was fantastic! I couldn't put it down, definitely enjoyed it just as much as the Raven books which are already my favourite ever books. Just wish I didn't have to wait so long for the next one now. Thanks James! |

I notice that Elves: Once Walked With Gods has been nominated by Gollancz for the David Gemmell Legend Award for 2011. This is only the first step, but it's great to see such a great book on the longlist. I know what I'll be voting for in due course... |

I am new to the world of James Barclay and i have to say i loved both the raven series and the new Elves book. I actually found the new book by accident on Amazon whilst ordering the new Brent Weeks book. When i discovered the raven series i went to http://www.jamesbarclay.com to find the chronological order of the books and there is no mention of the new Elves book in James's book list nor can i find any news on the next, eagerly awaited, 2nd book in the series. Any news would be good news _________________ __________________

Welcome to His Grace, The Duke of Ankh, Commander Sir Samuel Vimes, always good to see a member of the watch on board.
I suspect the updating of the website has taken second place to the books (thanks god I only agreed to be the forum admin and not web admin as well )
Ask any question you want on the forum if we don't know the answer we can always make it up and blackmail James to agree with us. _________________ Member and President of the Will Begman Appreciation Society.
