Sure I said this somewhere else, but SHADOWHEART wins for me.

It's the action scene in the catacombs of Xetesk, it couldn't have been any hotter, even if Samuel L. Jackson had been there, building a campfire down one of the other tunnels. Laughing

Some may argue that if its back to back fight scenes that make an awesome read, the Demonstorm should win. For me, too many good people died in the making of that book.

hello all just joined the forum so this may not be too peoples liking but i think we didnt need ravensoul. i didnt enjoy it, im sorry mr barclay, but saying that i honestly believe they are the greatest series of books i have ever read.

i agree it was great to have the raven ride again, and when i found out about ravensoul i was proper excited.i read it in 1 day but just didnt think the ravens foe (garonin?) fitted into the whole story.

Personally I'd have to vote Elfsorrow. It was the book that introduced me to The Raven and of course, I loved meeting the Elves. Again, Dawnthief definately close 2nd.

I haven't finished Ravensoul yet! ( Embarassed

) so I suppose I shouldn't have really voted...

I read the books as a series and like to look at them in that light.

There are parts that appeal to me in all the books just as there are parts that I dislike in all the books. (The good very easily out weights the bad.)

As a series there is no doubt that it is a great one and one that I will definitely reread. Which one book is best is much harder to decide upon.

So since the first book is what got me hooked on the series I'd say that one is my favourite.

For myself it has to be Elfsorrow.

Loved meeting the Elves and seeing Calaius for the first time. Loved the imagery of the jungle how forbidding and how beautiful it could be.

Also the fact that we lose one of The Raven. I love it when an author isn't afraid to kill off even main characters, though I had a tear in the eye when I read that scene.

Still a hard choice as all in the series have something to offer that is unique and I loved 'em all. Cool

I know this thread is old, but since I'm new to the forum, allow me to in my vote.

The book I most enjoyed reading was Dawnthief... because I discovered my new favorite serie/heroes/author. The book was new and refreshing in fantasy. So my vote went toward Dawnthief.

Elfsorrow was a masterpiece, introducing Calaius and most importantly Auum... and taking away my favorite, Ilkar (that was a hard, but very interesting experience).

Ravensoul was different, but still one of the best of the 7 books. It was so emotional and at a higher level.

As for OWWG, I didn't enjoy it as much as the other books... it is still a good fantasy book, but I would say not good enough by JB standard (het set the bar really high).

I think what makes JB the best is his ability to kill the right character at the right time (and getting them back to us in the proper way: The Unknown in Dawnthief and some others in Ravensoul). This definitely maximize the emotional experience of the reader...

Oh lordy, Lizzy, that requires its own separate forum topic! Haha. Suffice it to say that after my Bachelor's, things went a bit downhill and I now find myself in my homeland for the time being. Miss the UK, and sorry I've been absent for so long - there were technical difficulties for me with this forum for the longest time!

I still need to read Ravensoul. I feel so behind the times! I missed you guys!
