OK, I'm doing a reading on Saturday morning of the convention at 10.30am and am going to read a scene from Rise of the TaiGethen.

(pauses for murmurs of excitement to die down)

Here's the question - should I avoid a spoiler scene or does the fact that it's only a few pages and months before the book comes out mean that it doesn't really matter? Would you prefer page 1, chapter 1? Or to be transported into the midst of the novel for 20 minds?

Your thoughts are gratefully received...

Since I'm unable to make it that far South without a nosebleed I vote for the last 3 pages Very Happy

But, if I was able to be there I'd probably want to hear you read one of the fight scenes to hear how you pace it. Not a big spoiler fight though.

I hope you won't spoil anything.

I'd prefer Malops idea of a nice fight that's not too important for the story. Very Happy
Or, if a spoiler, then some more obvious like the change of the silent to ********

The Saturday morning of the convention, wigwam Smile. It's this saturday coming. I've chosen a teaser from chapter 4 rather than the standard chapter 1 or an 'orrible spoiler. It's good for action and character and doesn't give too much away...

Wish I could be there but bogged down in new baby stuff! Hope the reading goes well and looking forward to getting my paws on a copy as soon as possible.

The reading was brilliant, as was James' interview with Joe Abercrombie. All in all a good F'con, made so by the people Cool

Heartily concur with Lizzy, both the reading and interview with Joe Abercrombie were excellent as was the whole event - shame Graham Joyce didn't win but that's a whole other story........... Shocked

Awwwww. I really wish I was there. James reading his piece shouldn't be missed. Sad

I wonder if conventions are streamed on the internet. That will really be nice specially for me. Plane tickets are just so expensive nowadays that a clear, real time stream will be a big blessing. Razz

Well, I can't promise you live streaming but parts of FCon are always videoed and I could always ask for my reading to be filmed next year (if I do a reading, of course).

Welcome to the boards, by the way.
