What is the most efficient way to convert several hundred pages of printed text to an ebook? I have a book only available in book form or as a standard manuscript that I would like to republish. I need to convert the text into some kind of computer saved document so I can publish an ebook or make the manuscript re printable. I'm looking for the most efficient way to do that. I do have a scanner. _________________ life is a game play it |

Hi herbelly,
Welcome to the forums.
Well, there are a couple of ways. Obviousoly you can retype the manuscript and although that's time consuming, if you consider it as a way to revise and edit, it's almost certainly time well spent.
Alternatively some scanners (or their software) have OCR - optical character recognition and these scanners will make editable documents from printed pages. I've not used such technology for ages and when I did, it was inaccurate so any scan had to be read through extremely closely to check for errors. Again, very time consuming.
Personally, I'd re-input from scratch and edit, revise and improve as I went along. Do a few pages a day and you'll soon have it done...
Anyone else out there with other idea? _________________ 'A human with a hand outstretched in friendship carries the fangs of a taipan in his palm.' A TaiGethen saying. |
