Hey all, I had a holiday to Egypt in march of this year. At the airport I was looking for any books to read while over there -- I always read 4 - 5 books on holiday, this time 9 -- and while browsing in the fantasy section I happened upon Ravensoul. Now, having never heard of The Raven, I picked it up and read the synopsis, sounded good but I wasn't sure if it was a sequel or if it just threw the reader midway into a story and provided backstory as you read. I took this on holiday with me and read it....
Wow, I loved it so much, I thought it would be hard going as I had discovered it was the last in a series of 7, but it wasn't. Sure, I was confused at times by who people were and what they were but overall I found it very easy reading. About a month after I returned home I placed an order on Amazon and purchased Dawnthief, Noonshade, Nightchild, Elfsorrow, Shadowheart and Demonstorm. I'm almost finished Dawnthief and it is such a strange experience it is like reading a prequel book, it's enjoyable in a different kind of way.
And as soon as christmas is over and I have money I will be placing an order for Light Stealer, The Ascendants of Estorea books and OWWG.
Just thought I'd make my first post interesting, and very, very long....

Virkon, with posts like that you can make them as long as you like every time.
A massive welcome to the forum - I'm really delighted that you found Ravensoul accessible enough as a stand alone and even better you went back at bought the rest. The Raven are in your soul now, and will never, ever leave
Don't be a stranger here...

Thanks for the welcome!
I will DEFINITELY be readin Ravensoul again after Demonstorm.
It was strange, by the end of Ravensoul I felt like I had already read the other books and that I new the stories, it was very accessible.
It just makes me so happy to see an author who cares about his reader as much as you do, I mean you're active in your forum, you respond to posts, you really talk to people. That is very rare.
I plan to be very active on these forums.
Thanks again for the warm welcome. |

Kind of you to say so, Virkon. It's a happy place, is this. A few of us have become good friends through the forum, meeeting at conventions and so on. So beyond the book stuff, it's been a really rewarding forum to have. _________________ 'A human with a hand outstretched in friendship carries the fangs of a taipan in his palm.'
