just a question does anyone play D&D on here, i was thinking the Raven would make a pretty good transition to D&D and Balaia would be a pretty good world to set it on, so a cpuple of questions
1 Would James mind us working on this ?
2 Anyone done this before, or would fancy having a crack at it ? _________________ "Squad seven! To the fore. Move!" |

i do!!
and have tried several times to work on it, the hardest part about it all is the magic system as Balaia is a world of Mana, that and a ful;l list of spells and spell descriptions. |

well originally i was thinking of using the casters likea sorceror, no spell preparation, but i think a main thing would be the idea of mana, so i would probably lean more toward spell points, maybe using the psychic point system or something like that
a few of the spells are pretty easy to transfer across (flame orb = fireball, cloakedwalk = invisibility for example)
i was also toying with the idea of making protector a race of its own but scrapped that idea as it would force them to chose a class, but in reality they can only be fighters or rangers maybe for the twf.
So i thought maybe give the human race a broader spectrum, splitting it down into each of the main colleges as a kind of background, then add the duchies, possibly how forgotten realms does it by giving an area of origin and selected classes and feats for that area, obviously protector could only be taken by someone from or loyal to Xetesk
i was also strongly in favour of using the action point system from Eberron as it would strike me as a very dynamic, action packed setting
any feedback ? _________________ "Squad seven! To the fore. Move!" |

Which reminds me, either of you guys read much about D&D 4th Edition.
Amazon sent me a mailer last week, but not played in about 3 years. _________________ Member and President of the Will Begman Appreciation Society.

no way am i ever going to play 4E. I spent an absolute fortune on 3rd/3.5E.
Paizo publishing are reworking 3.5E for their campaign, Pathfinder, which is full of eastern promise if you know what i mean |

Anyone play GURPS? Might be an easier system to run a Raven game as its designed to work with any setting/genre etc. |
