|
|
Does anyone else think that Drizzt, is too powerful? I havent read the Hunters Blade Trilogy yet, so i don't know what happens there but it seems to me he can't be beaten!
He's like Angel, a regular vampire (just with a soul) yet he seems to be able to smash any demon that comes in his path!
Raven and Martin Spoiler
Thats what i loved about, Barclay and Martin, no one was safe. They built up characters like Ilkar and Robb Stark and then BAM! dead. And what Martin did to Jamie Lannister, was worse than death for him, can u see Drizzt losing his sword hand? (yes i know, he's equally adept with both hands!) _________________ Excuse me, is your refrigerator running? Because if it is, it probably runs like you - very homosexually - Peter Griffin |

Well, I guess this one lands in my neck of the woods..!!
No, he's not too powerful. I know a lot of D&D fans reckon he is and some odd ones have had a go at Salvatore for writing the character since it led to a sudden explosion of Drizzt-like characters being invented pointlessly.
As for the books, there's always a cost with Drizzt. Be it personal or otherwise, he never just wins a fight, there's always something lost or some other factor to counter the victory. As for the latets trilogy, this comes even more to the fore than the previous books. Previously there was a lot of rivalry between Artemis Entreri and Drizzt. Entreri doesn't feature in the latest trilogy so Drizzt has to stick with his companions more than ever against all kinds of odds... and there are no easy victories either. _________________ Pagan Music |

Selik, i do apologise if you didn't know that that happend in the Martin books, but then again i say where have you been! You need to get your head into that series because its absolutely class!
And concerning Drizzt. I do love him don't get me wrong, his opening statements to chapters, rock my world, but once i'd love to see him have a one on one battle and lose and run away, to prove that he isn't immortal as he seems to be. (yeh i know he can die naturally of old age but im not counting that!) _________________ Excuse me, is your refrigerator running? I've read the icewind dale, darkelf and legacy series'. i love drizzt, definitely one of my favourite characters, but i do think he's too hard. after reading books by barclay and martin, drizzt books dont feel the same because you know he's not going to die. plus it seems to me that when characters do die they tend to turn up alive anyway. naming no names to keep this spoiler free. |

Hehe... I know who you mean. For me, the best Drizzt book is 'The Lone Drow'. Cover to cover action. _________________ Pagan Music |

Well I've only read Homeland, yet . But already there I found it a bit boring because I knew, that he would win every fight . _________________ The question that sometimes drives me hazy: Am I, or the others crazy?

Meh, you're alright. And as to where have I been? Well, all my money goes towards bills, books and music. A poor unemployed viking has her limits.
But seriously, many thanks to Drizzt for lending the books, otherwise i'd never have got around to reading them. _________________ "I sit on my arse, not my head." - Baron Gresse. |
