I delivered the manuscript to my editor, Gillian today. Got to say I'm really happy with the way it's turned out.
I shall not indulge in spoilers or anything like that but check back here for progress and to lodge any questions you have... _________________ 'A human with a hand outstretched in friendship carries the fangs of a taipan in his palm.' A TaiGethen saying. |

I like the timing James - you announce delivery of book 3 right after I post I am ready for it.
I feel honoured. |

Hey James,
Does the title, Beyond the Mists of Katura refer to the geography, as in the first 2 books they've slowly travelled further south and are now heading beyond Katura in search of magic or understanding? Or is it more of a metaphor for the Elven race moving past Katura as an event and rebuilding their society?
SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE RAVEN BOOKS
Also, is it safe to assume that a lot of the Tai Gethen are killed off in the final battle of this series with the exception of Auum because they aren't featured in the Raven books? If there's anyway you can save my favourite character, Graf, I would be very grateful.
Thanks,
Grafyrre _________________ If I stand by you in battle, I will die before I let you die.

Hi Grafyrre, welcome to the forums. A fan of Graf, eh? Good stuff, he's among my favourites. Clearly I can't guarantee to save him but he's right in the thick of it as always and, well, you'll find out if he lives or dies.
As to your spoiler question (thanks for the warning for others, by the way), I can't say... again, you'll find out!
Anyway, the title is more a metaphor than anything else. It's the title of a song which speaks about what lies beyond the mists. I can't (again) say too much but I'm really happy with the book and that's before Gillian has edited it. _________________ 'A human with a hand outstretched in friendship carries the fangs of a taipan in his palm.' It feels odd having such a direct link to an author through a forum. Excellent idea though. Especially to be able to tell them what an excellent series of books they have written.
Are there any details of Beyond the Mists you can release without giving anything away? _________________ If I stand by you in battle, I will die before I let you die.

You only get a direct link when you're telling me how graet my books are
Details I can give away...well, you get to see, well read, the Senserii fight. They are seriously double-hard bastards. And you get to see the best and worst of man. And there are Wytch Lords. And within the pages, there's one of those characters of mine who was only supposed to be a bit-part player but ends up a major figure. I love it when that happens.
How's that? _________________ 'A human with a hand outstretched in friendship carries the fangs of a taipan in his palm.' A TaiGethen saying. |

Now you've said that there are so many characters which that could apply too, I don't know how I will maintain my sanity before the next installment.
There are some characters who are clearly going to be involved in the next book but it's just a case of connecting the dots. But I'm sure you know that better than anyone _________________ If I stand by you in battle, I will die before I let you die.

I'm reading the page proofs right now, Grafyrre (he's in the book of course). I think you're going to be happy with what you find... roll on May. _________________ 'A human with a hand outstretched in friendship carries the fangs of a taipan in his palm.' A TaiGethen saying. |

Just realised that the publication date for 'Beyond the Mists of Katura' is coming up rather rapidly! Are there any plans for the launch, James? I'm sure we'd all like to get a chance to come to a signing... (hint, hint) |

This weekend after 4 days (for me exceptionally fast reading) I finished the last Elves book:
A really great finale, fast paced! Just loved it except for one a bit too predictable thing, that I won't spoil here
I think I have to re-read the Raven books now. Maybe I should also get them in the original english version. |

Still reading Mists of Katura but there is a huge reveal in chapter 19, wow
You find the real reason for the war with humanity, it's not magic, slavery, wytch lords or even natural resources - it's literacy.
In chapter 19 of the Kindle edition we find this:
"We will find the Wesmen reading party, they won't bother you"
So, there the final proof.
The message to the Wesmen is pick a book up and we will send the Senserii.
Ok, so yes it's a typo but one that made me chuckle out loud on the train, the image of Wesmen sat in a circle reading the latest trash novel as the Senserii turn up and punish them
This one is worthy of Ansible Mr Barclay _________________ Member and President of the Will Begman Appreciation Society.

I can just see the Wesmen monthly book club blushing their way through 50 shades of mana....
Loved it, especially Takaar _________________
